The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) has formally endorsed the Mark Awards, reinforcing a shared commitment to professional excellence, strategic leadership and the continued development of South Africa's marketing and communications industry.
The Mark Awards recognise excellence across strategy, innovation, technology, experience design, creative execution and leadership, with ROI and commercial effectiveness central to judging. The programme was established to elevate the standards of thinking, governance and measurable performance that underpin strong marketing outcomes, not only the work itself.
In a relatively short period, the awards have established themselves as a credible industry benchmark, recognising both agencies and brands that demonstrate strategic rigour, measurable impact and responsible leadership.
PR forms part of The Mark Awards' Strategy pillar, recognising the strategic role communications plays in shaping brand reputation, influencing audiences and delivering measurable business outcomes. The PR categories cover a broad spectrum of contemporary practice, including PR Strategy; Crisis and Issues Management; Employee Communications; Financial Communications; Media Relations; Public Affairs and Government Relations and Integrated campaigns. Together these categories reflect the diverse ways in which public relations contributes to brand and organisational success.
Prakash Patel, Co-Founder of the Mark Awards, welcomes the endorsement as an important signal of sector-wide alignment. "PRISA's endorsement strengthens the value, credibility and intent of the Mark Awards. From inception, our objective has been to build a platform that recognises excellence and encourages fresh thinking while reinforcing the professional standards that sustain the industry. Meaningful progress depends on collaboration between respected institutions, particularly in advancing accountability, strategic quality and long-term growth across communications."
Bradly Howland, President of PRISA, said the organisation sees strong alignment between its strategic priorities and the purpose of the awards. "A core part of PRISA's mandate is advancing professional standards, recognising excellence, and contributing to the broader development of the communications industry. The Mark Awards have established a credible platform that celebrates the people, work and thinking shaping our sector. Supporting initiatives that drive these standards forward is exactly the type of industry collaboration we want to champion."
The endorsement reflects PRISA's commitment to partnering with credible industry platforms that elevate professional practice and recognise measurable excellence. As part of the collaboration, PRISA will support amplification of The Mark Awards through its member platforms and communication channels.
In an increasingly complex operating environment, where governance, accountability and measurable performance are central to business success, collaboration across industry bodies plays a critical role in strengthening standards and maintaining public trust.
Entries for the next Mark Awards cycle will open on Wednesday, 1 April.
